Affiliate Link Cloaker for Joomla!
There's no need to install additional extensions to cloak your affiliate links inside of Joomla!TM. You can hide your affiliate link URL's without having to modify or write any programming scripts. This approach works for all of your affiliate links regardless of where they derive from. Whether from Clickbank, CJ.com, LinkShare, PepperJam Network, Plimus or Google, the procedure remains the same.
Cloaking your affiliate links with Joomla! is as easy as copying & pasting your affiliate links into the Joomla! core Weblinks component. This way links appear as relative to your domain. This is very useful in cases where the link that you get from the advertising network looks like this http://dkla.com/o03ur0m0ce0c0920.html Most of your visitors are going to have a hard time clicking that link as they have no idea where it goes.
Weblinks Configuration:
- Create A Keyword Rich Category Name (as this will be part of the URL)
- Create a New “Link”
- Name Your Link & Place it in the Category you've just created
- Place Your Affiliate Link in the URL field
- Under Parameters >> Choose New Window with Browser Navigation as the Target
Now that you have created the link you need to retrieve it and place it in your content. If you haven't already done so, create a menu item to the Weblinks component.
- Bring up the weblinks component on your website
- Navigate to the Category >> Link you just created
- Right Click (PC) or Control Click (Mac) and choose Copy Link Location
- Control V in your < a href="/myRelativeLink.html" > Relative Link Name < /a >
